Traditional and reverent, it honors Saint Felicity, a pregnant slave who, along with Perpetua and four others, was martyred by the Emperor Septimius Severus (193–211). Perpetua kept a diary of their imprisonment and trial. Hers is the oldest surviving writing by a Christian woman.
